Margaret E. Garcia

MOGOTE — Mogote resident Margaret E. Garcia, 79, passed away May 13, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. Margaret was welcomed into the world July 24, 1939 in Mogote, the daughter of Pablo Rodriguez and Delfina Ruybal Rodriguez.

She was united in marriage to John Garcia June 6, 1957 and the two shared a long and happy union until her passing. She was a member of the Madres Cristianas and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Margaret was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, watching sports and movies, fishing, traveling, going gambling and spending time with her children, family and friends.

Survivors include her husband John Garcia of Antonito; sons Fred (Leslie) Garcia of Alamosa; Kelly (Sylvia) Garcia of Conejos Canyon; Ron Garcia (Kathy Faz) of Crestone; grandchildren John Paul (Bobbi) Garcia, Morgan Harmsen-Garcia, Kimberly Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, RaeAnna Rios, Great-grandchildren Alexis Nova Garcia, Adaline Garcia, Jacoby Garcia, Gabriella Garcia-Escheman, sisters Gloria Ornales of Los Angeles, Calif.; Bernice Roybal of Denver; Pauline (George) Griego of Phoenix, Ariz.; Carla Brown of Alamosa; Viola (Leslee) Rodriguez of Denver; Linda Cisneros and Anna DeHerrera both of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother Frank Rodriguez of Alamosa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Pablo and Delfina Rodriguez, son baby John Garcia Jr., sister Jenny Lujan, brothers Orlando, Benjamin, LeRoy and David Rodriguez.

Cremation was chosen and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 7 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date.
