Man wanted for attempted murder

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Police Department is requesting the assistance of citizens across the San Luis Valley in locating James Mitchell McNeill, a 31-year-old San Luis Valley resident. A warrant for McNeill’s arrest has been issued for attempted 1st degree homicide, 1st degree assault, 1st degree burglary, child abuse, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.  

These charges resulted from an incident that occurred on May 1 in the 1200 block of La Due Avenue in Alamosa.  

At 3:15 p.m. on May 1 officers from the Alamosa Police Department were dispatched to the San Luis Valley Health Emergency Room in reference to a gunshot victim being treated for serious injuries. Officers and investigators from the Alamosa Police Department were able to determine that the incident occurred in the 1200 block of La Due Ave. where McNeill allegedly shot the victim and fled the area before the arrival of police.

As of this time, McNeill remains at-large and his whereabouts are unknown. Upon completion of the investigation, Capt. Anderson of the Alamosa Police Department was able to obtain a warrant for McNeill’s arrest and is asking for the assistance of citizens across the San Luis Valley in locating McNeill and securing his arrest.
