FORT GARLAND — Juan Cruz Sanchez was contacted and arrested July 26 by a Costilla County Sheriffs Deputy.

He was a suspect in a disturbance in Fort Garland and was located in San Luis, where a vehicle and foot pursuit ensued.

He was taken into custody after being located on foot after fleeing a vehicle.

Charges include attempted first-degree assault on a peace officer, felony eluding and violation of protection order.

He was also wanted on felony warrants out of New Mexico and Colorado.
