LA JARA — Mabel Mary Sanchez (91), La Jara, CO - passed away on September 10, 2020, in Denver, CO. Mabel was born January 14, 1929, in Hesperus, CO to Jose Alcario Garcia and Genevieve Archuleta. Mabel was raised as a child in San Miguel and spent the rest of her life in La Jara, CO. Since as a teenager, she worked at Skinners Dry Cleaners with George and Thelma for its entire business service of 44 years. Mabel then worked as a maid at Alamosa Inn until retirement. From there Mabel enjoyed staying at home. Mabel married Joe Delfine Sanchez in 1952 and they divorced in 1960.

Mabel is survived by her sister Alice Martinez, San Francisco CA, as well as her children Jim Sanchez, Casper WY, Sam Sanchez, Denver, CO, Genevieve Sanchez, Denver, CO and Tom Sanchez, Douglas WY. Additionally, Mabel is survived by her eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and brother Valois (Val) Garcia.

On Wednesday, September 30, a memorial mass (cremation) will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic in La Jara at 10:00 am. Graveside service and lunch reception (at the church) will follow.
