Lupita “Lupe” Maez

Capulin resident Lupita “Lupe” Maez, 94, passed away April 9, 2021, at the University Park Care Center in Pueblo. Lupe was welcomed into the world on September 10, 1926, in Denver, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Wences Loa Zapata and Dolores Perez. Lupe was united in marriage to Adolph Maez. The two shared a happy and loving union for 65 amazing years. She enjoyed crocheting, going fishing, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was an exceptional and caring woman and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her sons Henry (Lena) Maez of Denver; Robert “Bobby” (Nora) Maez of Pueblo, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lupe was preceded in death by her parents Wences and Dolores Zapata, husband Adolph Maez, son Michael Maez, as well as many brothers, sisters and cousins.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Capulin. A Mass of the Resurrection will also be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Capulin Cemetery.
