Loyola Lucero

SAN LUIS —Loyola Lucero, 84, went to Heaven peacefully on July 17, 2019. She was born in San Luis, April 25, 1935, the daughter of Cedelia Montoya, Celestino Valdez, and stepfather Daniel Montoya. She is married to Virgil Lucero.

Loyola loved embroidery, crocheting, painting, shopping at the segundas (thrift stores), cooking, dancing, attending church, praying the rosary, and above all spending time with her loving family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, sister and friend. She will be missed more than words could ever express.

She is survived by her five loving children Richard (Shanda Taylor) Lucero, Laura (Herbert Romero) Lucero, Victor Lucero, Rocky Lucero and Gayle “Gas” (Martha) Lobato all of San Luis. She is also survived by her sisters Marvine (Cecil) Ratley of Arvada, and Louisa (Wilbert) Sanchez of Colorado Springs. Loyola is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother Cedelia Montoya and stepfather Daniel Montoya, father Celestino Valdez, sisters Inez Bustillos, Louise Vargas, Annie Espinoza, Nora Trizio, Josephine Esquibel, Teri Salazar; brother Abel Medina as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on July 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow on July 23 at 11 a.m. also at the Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at the Sangre De Cristo Cemetery in San Luis.
