Lorraine “Laura” Jaquez

CHAMA, Colo. — It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lorraine “Laura” Jaquez on July 2, 2020, at the age of 72.

Lorraine was born on November 15, 1947, in Chama, Colorado to Gilberto and Manuelita (Sanchez) DeHerrera. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Juanito, Wilfred, Arthur DeHerrera, Gilbert Esquibel as well as her grandparents and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Ted Jaquez, sons Toby and Teddy Jaquez grandson Christian Jaquez, daughter-in-law Pamela (Apadoca) Jaquez, several grand-children and her sisters Betty Esquibel, Mercy Gallegos, Theresa Rincon, and sister-in-law Ruth DeHerrera.

Her life was devoted to her family as a daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She created a life for her family out of hard work, determination, and LOVE. Those who were blessed to know her knew she was humble, kind, smart, funny, generous, devoted, adventurous, creative, accepting, loving, and most importantly an amazing cook.  There were two things you just knew you would get from her when you would visit, that was a good laugh and good food. Working hard at home was just one part of her, she was also very fortunate to work and retire from Parkview Hospital as a housekeeper for over 30 years.
