Antonito resident Lorraine E. Lucero, 95, went to her eternal rest on July 6, 2021, at the Rio Grande Inn Nursing Home in La Jara. Born on April 21, 1926, in Carmel, Colorado, the daughter of Antonio Gonzalez and Belsie Todd. She worked for and retired from the U.S. Forest Service after many years of dedicated service as a secretary. Lorraine loved to read books, cook meals for her family, gardening and absolutely adored the time she spent with her children and all her grandchildren.
She will live on through her daughters Coleen Trujillo of Antonito, CO; Kathy (Larry) Lucero of Arroyo Seco, NM; sons James L. (Frances) Ortiz of Espanola, NM; Frank Dennis (Debbie) Ortiz of Arroyo Seco, NM; numerous grandchildren, great and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Belsie Gonzalez, husband Leo Alonzo Lucero, father of her children 4 children Frank Ortiz Sr., grandchildren Baby Jessica Ortiz, Thomas Lee Scoggins, James Lee Ortiz, sisters Rose Medina and Erelene Medina.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 12:30 PM at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Antonito. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 1:00 Pm also at St. Augustine in Antonito. Interment will follow at the La Jara Cemetery. To leave online condolences please visit romerofuneralhomes.com.
