Loreta Jean Adams “Jean” October 1, 1917 – June 18,2017

Jean Adams was born Loreta Jean Groom at the family home in Gentry County Missouri located outside Darlington, Missouri on October 1, 1917 to Frank and Lara Groom.  A hardworking, strong Christian family devoted to Jesus Christ.

Jean attended a small country school near the family farm and graduated from Darlington High School.  She furthered her dream of becoming a schoolteacher by graduating from the college of Maryville, Missouri.  Retiring after 39 years she continued to substitute teach in Missouri and Colorado until she was 90 years old!  She loved each and every child and made each one feel special.

Jean was a natural born gifted pianist praising God through music.  She accompanied many Christian ministers of music and on September 19, 1943 she married Rolla S. Adams, the music leader who took her heart.  From this union came their only son Robert (Bob) S. Adams.

Jean is preceded in death by husband Rolla, Her parents Frank and Lora Groom, Brothers H.C. and Carl Groom and sister Lorraine (Wayne) Christian, several nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends.

Survivors include her son Robert (Kay) Adams of Moffat, Colorado, only Grandson Shane (Brenda) Adams, Great Grandsons Ry and Cade Adams all from the San Luis Valley, Colorado and two nieces, Janice Lewis and Phyllis Gillespie.

Family and friends were very important to jean and she leaves a strong Christian legacy.  The family wants each of you to know that she truly loved you and she’s busy playing piano for Jesus!

Private family services will be held and have been entrusted to Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa.
