ALAMOSA — The Adams State University Distance Learning Program presents the second annual Voices From Inside, a reading of literary work of Adams State incarcerated students. The free event will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Nielsen Library second floor. Light refreshments will be provided. A second reading will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at Dreampower Artworks Studio, located on 13201 Chamisa Trail in Alamosa. Bring your own chair and snacks to share to the studio.

The work will be read by Kathy Park Woolbert, adjunct instructor of English, and Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy, liaison for Inclusive Excellence and professor of the Extended Studies Incarcerated Students program.

The English Department with the ASU Extended Studies program offers coursework to incarcerated students in institutions nationwide in literature, creative writing and composition from freshman to senior levels.

“For students in the program writing is an open door through which they find self-discovery, imagination, and healing,” said Guerrero-Murphy. “The audience may be surprised to learn how talented, insightful, funny, and courageous these writers, who are a part of the ASU learning community, are. The audience will be enriched by the scholarly and literary calibre of their work. Not to be missed.”
