ALAMOSA –Adams State University Dr. William Lipke, professor of music, will present Music of the Reformation: 500 years at the next Faculty Lecture. The event begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in McDaniel Hall room 101.

The Reformation, which began in Germany 500 years ago this month, was a movement during turbulent times which greatly contributed to society and the arts. In order to bring music to the common person, rather than just the highly educated, many chorale tunes were composed. These Renaissance monophonic musical gems have endured for five centuries and were later beautifully and masterfully arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach and others in the Baroque Period. Come and enjoy a discussion and exploration of this great corpus of music.

All ASU Faculty Lectures in the series are free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be offered.
