Lipke performs in annual Broadway at the Boulders show

SEWARD, Neb. — Miriam Lipke of Alamosa and Concordia University, Nebraska’s A Cappella choir will sing many musical hits in the return of their annual Broadway at the Boulders show at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13.

The family-friendly outdoor concert will feature the entire chorus along with student solos and duets. Featured music includes medleys from “Into the Woods,” “My Fair Lady” and “Jersey Boys,” among others.

The event is free and open to the public. In the event of poor weather, the concert will be held in the Weller Chapel Auditorium.

Lipke will also perform with the University Symphonic Band in its spring concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at Seward High School Auditorium in Seward, Nebraska. The program features music based on historical events or personal life experiences of the composers. For example, Frank Ticheli’s piece, “An American Elegy” is a musical response to the tragic school shooting at Columbine High School.

The program is rounded out with John Philip Sousa’s “The Thunderer” and medleys from the musical “The Music Man” and the Pixar film “The Incredibles.”

The University Symphonic Band is the oldest continuing musical organization at Concordia. The ensemble places emphasis on sacred, multicultural and contemporary literature, as well as traditional concert band repertoire.
