Linton Charles Bowers, 88

Valley resident Linton Charles Bowers, 88, passed away on January 9, 2018.  He was born on February 26, 1929 in Ottawa, Illinois.  Linton served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea from 1951-1953 with the heavy mortar company 14th Infantry – 25th Division and received the Purple Heart.  He retired from the National Guard after 27 years of service, including commanding Company C, 129th Infantry in Ottawa Illinois.  He had a long career in law enforcement in Illinois and Colorado.  After his retirement, he served as a volunteer driver and Post Chaplain for the Veterans of Foreign War in Alamosa.

Linton is survived by his daughters, Linda Jean Monk, Mary Kathleen Bowers, Amy Jo Hutchinson, his sons, Charles Eugene Bowers, William Roy Bowers and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Leslie Bowers, his daughter, Carol Bowers and his sisters, Betty Mitchell and Dorothy Bowers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa.  Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.  To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
