ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys golf team hosted its annual tournament Friday at Cattails Golf Course with the Mean Moose placing eighth.

Monte Vista and Del Norte also competed with the Pirates finishing fourth and the Tigers 11th.

The Mean Moose had a team score of 286 and it was led by Kyler Liddell who placed sixth with an 81. Other Mean Moose golfers included Gage Rogers who placed 35th with a 100, Seth Quintana who was 40th with a 105, and Josh Cline who finished 50th with a 112.

Monte Vista’s final score was 255 and it was led by Kaden Mellott and Liam Ellithorpe who both tied for ninth place with an 84. Ryker Anderson tied for 16th with an 87, and Riley Bounds tied for 36th with a 101.

Del Norte finished with a score of 296 and it was led by Ben Parra who tied for 16th with an 84. Other Tiger golfers included T.J. Sanchez who tied for 27th with a 94, Aidan Medina who was 53rd with a 115, and Reece Velasquez who was 55th with a 119.

Montezuma-Cortez was the team champion with 234. It finished seven strokes better than second-place Pagosa Springs with 241. Pueblo West was third with 250.

Montezuma-Cortez’s Thayer Plewe was the individual medalist with a two-under-par 69. Pagosa Springs’ Johnathon Smith was second with a 74, and Pueblo County’s Niko Cozzetto was third with a 75.

All three local schools will next compete at the Pagosa Springs Invitational on Wednesday.
