On June 26th, there is an important primary race for Colorado’s next Attorney General. This letter is in support of Phil Weiser for that crucial position.
Phil Weiser is an innovator and a collaborator at a time when many in both parties take the position of “no compromise”. He will work with rural communities likes ours, as well as leaders around the state, to develop smart approaches to dealing with pressing issues—from the opioid crisis to addressing health care costs to protecting our land, air, and water.
Phil Weiser will bring a breadth of legal expertise and leadership experience to the AG’s office. As the former Dean and leader of CU’s law school, Phil has extensive management experience as well as the ability to work across the aisle.
Phil has shown his commitment to listening to rural communities too, reaching out to hear our concerns and finding ways to help us deal with our concerns. The AG’s office plays an essential role in all of the water cases that have a state interest. And he’ll work keep our public lands public, so that everyone can access them for their important role in our economy and way of life, from ranchers who rely on them for grazing, to those of us who collect firewood, hunt, fish and otherwise recreate. Given the current challenges to our public lands, it’s essential that we have an AG who listens, is innovative, and cares deeply about the future of our region.
We are fortunate to have a lawyer of Phil’s expertise and talents ready to work for us. Please join me in supporting Phil Weiser for Colorado State AG and be sure to vote in the primary on June 26th.
