Letter to the editor: Our community amazes me!

This past Christmas was the best Christmas I have ever had! My daughter, Casey, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma over a year and a half ago got married to the man of her dreams. Instead of a funeral we had a wedding. God is so good! The positive support of our community in so many ways made this journey easier to bear.

There are so many to thank. Ruthie Brown, Sheila Sanchez, Winema Van Iwaarden, Oncology at San Luis Regional Medical Center, the Infusion Department, Denver Colorado Blood Institute, and so many who made food, sat with Casey on numerous occasions, support groups, and way too many to mention here (you know who you are). Those who provided Christmas for her boys were amazing. People around the globe and different denominations were praying for her and our family. God blessed us on so many fronts. I am still in stunned awe at the magnitude of love poured out on our family.

Don and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We will spend a lifetime paying it forward and will do so with humble and grateful hearts.

Thank you, Jonathan Harris, for taking into your family our daughter and her two beautiful boys. You are an awesome dad and we love you to pieces. You are a man of God, loving husband, and seriously amazing dad. Your folks are the same and we feel a part of the wider extended family. What a joy!
Thank you to those who made their wedding possible. It was a beautiful occasion and more than amazing to see all those of you who came and supported the happy couple at their wedding. We love you dearly.
