Letter to the Editor: My take

I am hearing a lot coming out of Washington about the green new deal. With the proponents saying that without a drastic shift in the restriction of each of our hydrocarbon footprints the world, as we know it, will end. If we don’t transition to 100 percent renewable energy the earth will overheat and we are doomed in 12 years.

We have been cleaning up our air and water for decades, but India, China and Russia are the major polluters in the world and restricting our energy will destroy our economy and won’t significantly reduce global pollution. Now carbon pollution is the new emergency. Some greenhouse hemp producers inject extra carbon dioxide into their greenhouses to increase plant growth. That doesn’t work for the world?

If global warming is indeed a fact we should get a demonstrated increase in earth temperature each year but we don’t. We are using more fuel, there are more people each year, and I would imagine the sun is putting out a similar amount of radiation from year to year. If it is really heating from the impact of energy usage show me the sustained demonstrated increase. My theory is some places are a little hotter and some places a little colder at any given time in the year. If climate didn’t change then we would have the same temperatures day to day year to year and we never have.

What does giving the federal government the power to control, regulate, tax, and spend a lot more of your money do to change these conditions? If you are a proponent of this tell me how much alternative, renewable energy you have invested in your own life to reduce your own energy usage?

North Africa was a lush tropical area 4,5000 years ago and now is mostly a desert. What great dream of any regulation would have changed that? There was a dust bowl in central United States in the 1930s from lack of rain and now those areas have rivers and lakes and a great agricultural base. From time to time we hear the ocean temp has risen, and then we have a hurricane which, like blowing across a hot drink, cools the water temp. With all the ancient shipwrecks in the ocean off the east coast we can assume hurricanes occurred before the advent of the internal combustion engine.

Jordan Peterson said the probability that a government can isolate a problem and then provide a legislative solution to that problem is about zero. The government will swallow a camel like NATO at $750 billion and choke on a gnat like the border wall at $5 billion.

I’ve noticed that in the Green New Deal proposed that people would be given a living wage if they couldn’t, or even if they didn’t want to, work. I suppose that those legislators, getting paid for doing nothing constructive, would expect that all people should be able to do the same. This congress, with their do nothing attitude except to investigate investigations, is an affront to the intelligence of the American people. Trump the businessman is the solution to the waste and abuse of this government and the deep state is fighting with all their might to keep him from making “America Great Again.” He wants a great military, economy, fiscal responsibility and border security. Who doesn’t want that?

Our elected officials that aren’t self-funded owe favors to donors. These politicians are the best people that money can buy. Why would anyone want to give them power over their life? I’m beginning to think the education system is set up to encourage an ignorant and uninformed population that thinks the government owes them a living, they deserve a safe place and they have the right to free stuff, worked for and paid for by others. How is that working for Venezuela? Ten years ago they were the fourth largest economy in the world and now they can’t feed themselves. Socialism at its finest. When they say they will tax the rich they are just making it sound good to the average family. If you are a man and wife that both work and bring in together $58,000 or more you are the rich that they will really get the taxes from. How long will it take for you to decide that those that don’t work have everything you have? Why should you bust your rear when they don’t? You would have to be taught a pretty strong work ethic to continue to work for what others get free. Medicare for all sounds nice but what about those people that are retired and have paid for it for 30 or 40 years? Oh yea, they are expendable now. Personally I’ve paid over $60,000 towards Medicare in the 48 years I’ve worked and now pay $400+ a month out of social security to have Medicare, but you can get it free?

I believe we have men and women in congress that vote not for what is good for our country but will promote themselves over the best interest of the country. California is a great example of that. Get on Youtube and watch Victor Davis Hanson’s critique, as a resident, on the deterioration of that great state. Now we have those same refugees from the repressive legislation California imposes bringing that same mentality here. How absurd is our state house to vote to give all our electoral college votes to whoever wins the popular vote? So if Colorado votes for the candidate that loses the popular vote we have no say. We’ll let the east and west coast decide all future elections.

Have you lost faith in the integrity of the FBI and CIA in the last 10 years? If not ask Denesh D’Sousa. There are better ways to get informed than NBC, CBS, CNN and ABC take a look
