Letter to the editor: Don’t ignore global warming reality

The Denver Post on Sunday had a front page water article about the SLV titled, “Thirst for water clouds the future.” Included with what I felt were many thoughtful statements from those involved was this statement from our State Senator Larry Crowder, “If we can get back to a normal snowpack, we will be OK.” Why he thinks that global warming will allow us to return to what was normal he doesn’t say. It reminds me of the saying, “If wishes were fishes, we’d all swim in riches.” We know that there are people who refuse to accept the science that tells us we are overheating our planet and that drought is becoming the new normal. That belief only becomes dangerous when the person with that belief is in a position of power to direct public responses to a threat.
