Lenten luncheon continues Wed.

ALAMOSA – The fourth interfaith Lenten Luncheon for 2018 will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 607 Fourth St., Alamosa, at noon March 14 by the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Don Hanna officiating.

Luncheons begin with a brief church service conducted by the church giving the luncheon.

The Lenten luncheons are held at St. Thomas, a central location to the business district, to allow workers to take their lunch hour to attend a 15-20-minute service conducted by the church hosting the luncheon that day.

They are scheduled so that participants can be free to go back to work by 1 p.m.

Some services are conducted by the pastors of the churches serving the meal, others by church members.  The meal, usually consisting of soup and bread with perhaps a salad and dessert, is open to everyone.

The remaining luncheon will be on March 21 presented by the Roman Catholic Church.

The luncheon is not held during Holy Week.
