Moffat, Villa Grove, Northern Saguache, Crestone, Baca and Center VFDs also Saguache EMS all responded to the blaze. Center was summoned so water could be transported to fight the fire.

There was concern of propane tanks near the fire area that were “whistling.” A power pole in the path of the fire was arcing before San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative could arrive to deal with the electric lines.

The Colorado Department of Transportation was called to put down sand at the Intersection of County Road CC and Highway 285 owing to water spillage from trucks responding to the fire.
The fire was announced contained after about four hours. The causes of the two blazes remain unknown at this time but are under investigation.
