Latest On the Mat wrestling rankings

ALAMOSA – Tim Yount released his fourth On the Mat boys high school wrestling rankings on Friday prior to last weekend’s action.

Class 3A

In Class 3A, both San Luis Valley are listed in the team Top 10. Centauri is ranked sixth while Alamosa is ninth.

Mullen is the top-ranked team, followed by Eaton, Severance, Brush, Gunnison, Centauri, Fort Lupton, Pueblo Central, Alamosa and Valley.

Alamosa

Alamosa has seven ranked wrestlers. Three are third in their weight classes including Dempsey Gibbs (120), Kyler Liddell (150), and James Sanchez (285). Also ranked for the Mean Moose are Dario Valdez who is fourth at 126, Jeremiah DeLaCerda who is 10th at 106, Dyson Woodward who is 10th at 132, and Donovan Valdezwho is 13th at 144.

Centauri

Centauri has five wrestlers in the rankings and it led by Erik Mestas who is the top-ranked wrestler at 175 pounds. The other ranked Falcons include Josh Polkowske who is second at 165, Matthew Salazar who is fifth at 106, Riley Valdez who is fifth at 120, and Ivan Lopez who is 14th at 144.

Class 2A

None of the local teams are in the Class 2A Top 10, however, Center is ranked 13th.

Meeker is ranked first, followed by Wray, Cedaredge, Mancos, Rocky Ford, Buena Vista, Trinidad, Fowler, Crowley County and Wiggins.

Center

Center has five ranked wrestlers with Jordan Duran leading the way as he is second at 106. Also ranked for the Vikings are Martin Palma who is fifth at 165, Aaron Valadez who is sixth at 150, Jesus Valadez who is sixth at 175, and Andre Meraz who is eighth at 157.

Monte Vista

Monte Vista also has five wrestlers in the rankings. Kevin Cisneros is fifth at 138, DeAngelo Archuleta is sixth at 144, Damian Lopez is eighth at 132, Jaxon Martinez is 10th at 190, and Jacob Pacheco is 12th at 150.

Sargent

Matthew Voss is Sargent’s only ranked wrestler as he is 12th at 120 pounds.

Del Norte, Mountain Valley and Sierra Grande/Centennial have no ranked wrestlers this week.

Girls wrestling

No girls rankings were released this week. The most recent rankings were released on Dec. 30.

Ranked for the Alamosa girls are Sarah DeLaCerda who is third at 110 pounds, and Desiree Reveles who is eighth at 105.

Chatfield tops the girls team rankings, followed bt Discovery Canyon, Vista ridge, Pomona, Loveland, Fort Lupton, Eaglecrest, Mesa Ridge, Doherty and Severance.
