La Jara police sergeant a life-saver

While many small towns have growing lists of opiate deaths, La Jara’s list has been lowered by the quick actions of its chief and sergeant. Chief Jerry Lujan has one saved life on his record, while Sgt. Roberto Campos has three persons now alive due to his rapid administration of Naloxone, also known as Narcan, a medication used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose. Shown, Sgt. Campos, center, shows off his plaque and medal, while Town Administrator Dennis Koenig offers a congratulatory pat on the back and Mayor Larry Zaragoza looks on at left. Photo by Sylvia Lobato
