Josie L. Camren (Russell)

Colorado Springs Resident Josie Russell passed away on Feb. 6, 2024, surrounded by her family at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs after suffering a pedestrian/vehicle accident. Josie was born on May 17, 1945, in Alamosa, Colo., the daughter of Joe and Amelina Lopez (Juan and Aurora Lopez).

Josie loved people and enjoyed connecting with others.  Her diverse professional background brought her great pride and friendships that she maintained throughout her life.  Josie worked at the Antler’s Hotel, Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort, Phil Long Ford, Shield Realty and Abba Eyecare.  Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and her time spent with her loving family and friends.  Josie was a social butterfly.

Survivors include her loving partner Paul Francis, son’s Clifford Lopez, Earl Russell, Ben (Aranda) Russell and daughter’s Toni Russin and Cindy Russell, grandchildren: Ramon Ortega, Jovan Ortega, Adam Russell, Tony Madrid, Aspen Madrid, Sierra Madrid, Karissa Russell, Amelina Russell, Mary Alice Russell, Zachary (Jasmin) Russel and Jared Russell, great-grandchildren: David, Elizabeth, Branson, Jacob, Isabel, Shane, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Malachi, Elias and Ayla, sisters: Virginia Sumpter and Clara Haas, brothers: Manual Frank (Emily) Lopez, Reggie (Maxine) Lopez and Johnny Lopez.  Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Josie was proceeded in death by her parents and sister Jenny Nily.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 10 a.m. with a reception following at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church at 2030 W. Colorado Ave. in Colorado Springs.
