Jose and Beneranda Morfin

ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa residents Beneranda and Jose Morfin passed away after their hard fought battle with COVID. Beneranda was born on December 19, 1938 in Espanola,New Mexico, the daughter of Marcellino Valdez and Sorida Archuleta. Jose was born on May 30, 1937 in Espanola, New Mexico, he was the son of Adolfo Morfin and Carolina Garcia. They were both graduates of Espanola High School. After completing high school, Benie went on to work as a home health care provider. That was truly her calling in life, she had a gentle nature and was compassionate about helping and caring for others. Bennie was a sweet loving soul, she was selfless in devoting her time to others, volunteering at the church. . She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and loved eating Reese’s  peanut butter cups and taking walks. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jose went on to work as a carpenter, he had a natural talent working with his hands. Jose was a kind person who was so welcoming to everyone In their elder years, he spent a lot of time caring for his sweet wife. He loved taking care of animals, doing yard work and gardening, drinking his favorite drink, Pepsi and spoiling his grand and great-grandchildren. The two were united in marriage on December 31, 1966, they shared 55 wonderful loving years together. They truly shared a special bond and were the epiphany of what unconditional love was all about.  They were devoted to their faith and love for God. They were kind, loving people and friends to all and will be dearly missed.

They will live on through their granddaughters whom they raised as daughters Audrey (Ramon) Gutierrez of Alamosa, CO; Britny (Damien) David of Denver, CO; Cecilia Morfin of Alamosa, CO; grandson Jimmy Morfin of Alamosa, CO; great-grandchildren Jonovan Gutierrez, EmmaLee Gutierrez, Natalie Villagomez, Adelina Morales, Elyssa Morales, Serrano Provencio, Alvin JoeMascarenas. Jose’s brother Joe Morfin of Espanola, NM. They are also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bennie and Jose were preceded in death by bother of their parents, their daughter Renee Morfin, son Jay Morfin and many brothers and sisters.

Bennie and Jose will have a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 AM.
