MONTE VISTA — John Preston Seamster Jr., 77, passed away June 3, 2020, at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado with his loving family by his side. John came into the world on February 12, 1943, in Monte Vista, Colorado; the son of John Preston Seamster Sr., and Bonnie Lee Sharon Seamster.

He was united in marriage to Geraldine Neal on September 8, 1963, and the two shared a long and loving union of 56 years. A second-generation farmer in the Sargent community, a former Eagle Boy Scout of America, President of the Sargent School District and board member of the Creede Theater,

John was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed fly fishing, going horseback riding, skiing and was an all-around handyman who could fix anything! He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Geraldine Seamster of Monte Vista; daughters, Rene Honeycutt (Scott Edmonson), Shawna (Brian) Beck both of Colorado Springs; nephew, who was like a son to him James (Kristi) Neal of Boerne, TX; grandchildren: Neal (Alejandra) Norris, Abby Honeycutt, Katie Beck, Preston Beck; great-grandson Nolan John Norris, sisters, Lila Hill of Meridian, ID; Nettie (Steve) Buhl of TX. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bonnie Seamster; sister, Leah Materi and brother-in-law Earl Hill.
