John Pete Medina

Monte Vista resident John Pete Medina aka “Jams”, 67, passed away on August 5, 2022. He was born in Monte Vista, Colo., to Steven F. and Frances (Martinez) Medina. John graduated from Adams State University with a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology. He was involved in organizing the Hispanic Salute. He enjoyed walking at the park, and his early morning cups of coffee.  He was a true outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, picking pinon and arrowhead hunting. John will always be remembered as a caring, kind and loveable person.

John is survived by his children, Matthew Medina of California, Pete Medina of Corpus Christi, Texas, Henry Medina of Washington D.C., numerous grandchildren, his siblings, Susan (Larry) King of Walsenburg Colo., Esteban Medina of Monte Vista, Colo., David (Victoria) Medina of Monte Vista, Colo., Shirley Medina of Walsenburg Colo., Madeline (Lonnie) Thompson of Westminster, Colo., Kathy (John) Maestas of Monte Vista Colo., Dorothy Medina of Monte Vista Colo., Cindy (Estevan) Lopez of Monte Vista Colo., Ralph (Maria) Medina of Denver Colo., Mike Medina and Deann Ibarra of Monte Vista Colo., and Eduardo Gonzales of Alamosa, Colo., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Brooke Medina, his maternal grandparents Pete and Matilda Martinez as well as his paternal grandparents Ralph and Eufemia Medina.

Cremation was selected and a Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colorado.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. also at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colorado.   To express condolences, please visit rogersfunerals.com.
