San Acacio resident John Paul Dufresne, 55, passed away November 7, 2017 at the Conejos County Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John Paul was born on September 10, 1962 in Sherringham, England; the beloved son of Donald Dufresne and Jennifer Collins. John Paul served and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Theresa Kathleen Martinez on May 29, 1982. He was a skilled welder, blacksmith and enjoyed fabrication. On his free time John Paul enjoyed going fishing, hunting, reading books and spending time with his family and friends. John Paul was a loving and exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his mother Jennifer Ann Quintana of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; wife Theresa Dufresne of San Acacio, CO; sons Jeremy (Sandhe) Dufresne of Lubbock, TX; Jamie Dufresne (Sarah Chavez), Thomas Dufresne both of La Jara, CO; grandchildren Reagan, Rileigh, Rorey, River, Jesse Dufresne and John Dufresne and one sister Kim Dufresne of Canon City, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John Paul was preceded in death by his father Donald Dufresne, step-father Fred Quintana, one grandchild Aidan Dufresne and one brother Paul Jamie Dufresne.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
