Janice Gilleland

Janice Gilleland passed away at her home on October 22, 2018, surrounded by her children.  Janice was born June 24, 1934. She was the eldest child of Horace and Afton Huffaker of Romeo, Colorado.  Janice was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She married her sweetheart, Harley Gilleland on July 27, 1953 in the Manti, Utah LDS temple.  The couple lived most of their married life in Manassa, Colorado with the exception of a few years which were spent in Southern California while Harley served in the United States Navy.

Harley and Janice were blessed with 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren.  Grandma G. was adored by her family. She was particularly cherished by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she always had an open heart and an open kitchen.  Her home was a place where everyone felt loved and where all gathered each Sunday evening. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Janice was a hard worker who loved spending time outdoors. She appreciated the beauty of nature and wildlife, especially in the Colorado Mountains.  She was an excellent gardener, seamstress, and crocheted beautiful blankets for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her love and example of faith in any circumstance will be greatly missed.
