ALAMOSA — Irene “Martha” Olivas, 84, was called home on Dec. 11, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Irene was a very loving person. Her hobbies were singing, bingo, gambling, crossword puzzles and collecting frogs and the time she spent with her family and friends.

She leaves behind two daughters, Barbara (Val) Garcia of Alamosa; Berna (Joe) Ramirez of Denver; four sons, Nathan (Darla) Gallegos of Antonito; Tommy Gallegos and Mike Ruybal, both of Denver; Will Olivas of Alamosa.

She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild, as well as one brother, Jose (Joann) Garcia of Manassa; three sisters, Eileen (Pat) Salazar of Los Sauses; Patricia (Leo) Ruybal of Denver; Maryann (Remigio) Martinez of Romeo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother Cecilia and father Fernando Garcia; one sister, Margaret; one son, Jimmy Gallegos; and her husband, John Olivas.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date.
