Hospice volunteers and friends enjoy garden stroll

Janet Davis and Merlinda Marquez enjoy the beautiful garden of Ron and Marilyn Loser.

ALAMOSA–Volunteers, staff, and friends of Hospice del Valle enjoyed a gorgeous Garden Stroll hosted by Ron and Marilyn Loser in Alamosa on June 27. Seventy-eight varieties of grasses, flowers, shrubs, trees, herbs and vegetables were in full glory for the cool, sunny walk through a copse of apple, maple and aspen trees and an archway of hops. The wooden chaise lounges under the shade of tall rose bushes bursting with yellow invited some for a mid-morning break! Afterwards, everyone gathered on the front porch for coffee and iced tea and pesto-cream cheese flowerettes, fresh garden vegetable tortilla wraps, sweet and tart red cherries and rhubarb cake. It was a perfect summer morning with good friends, yummy treats and the best that nature has to offer.

Volunteers are at the heart of the services provided by Hospice del Valle to persons at the end of life and their families. Anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer is welcome to call Kelly Diss at Hospice del Valle at 719-589-9019 for more information.
