‘High Road to Taos’ art show opens today

PEÑASCO, NM — The Camino Real Ranger District of the Carson National Forest is thrilled to be showcasing art as part of the 2017 High Road Art Tour. 

Each fall in northern New Mexico artists on the scenic “High Road to Taos” open their studios and galleries two consecutive weekends for the High Road Art Tour (September 16-17 and September 23-24). The art featured in the Camino Real District Office in Peñasco can be seen both weekends of the Art Tour from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. as well as weekdays from 8 – 4:30 p.m.

Young artists living along the High Road to Taos are showing new, original work illustrating the importance of healthy river habitat. Artists and their work will be divided into three age categories with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in each category.  Winners will be decided by a Peoples’ Vote which can be cast at any location on the tour and will receive a cash award to be presented by Smokey Bear.
