Hickman is new airport manager in Alamosa

Will Hickman

ALAMOSA — Will Hickman is the new manager of the San Luis Valley Regional Airport.

Hickman met with Alamosa County officials and was introduced to members of the Alamosa Airport Board during a meeting on Thursday. With approximately one week on the job, Hickman and his family are settling into the Alamosa community.

Having been in aviation most of his life, Hickman brings experience to the position. He began working with aircraft at the age of 13. He was able to obtain his pilot’s license by the time he graduated high school.

He also has an extensive background in airport management. He has spent time on the management team at Spinks Airport in Ft. Worth. Most recently, he was the Security Coordinator for Love Field in Dallas. As a result, he is familiar with nearly every aspect of aviation. He is working to familiarize himself with the area and the operations in Alamosa.

For the moment, the top priority for the San Luis Valley Regional Airport will continue to be efficient budgeting. Hickman is “excited,” for the new opportunity in Alamosa and expressed openness to suggestions from the Alamosa Airport Board on how services can be improved. The board is also grateful for the opportunity to work with Hickman to continue to provide reliable air transportation for the entire San Luis Valley.
