Headwaters Hoedown kicks off Sunday

DEL NORTE — The Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust (RiGHT) is celebrating 20 years of conservation in 2019.

Founded in 1999, RiGHT acts as a means of securing the future of water in the San Luis Valley. As the community’s only local land trust, RiGHT serves the entire San Luis Valley. Additionally, RiGHT has maintained a commitment to working with public and private entities to preserve Valley’s natural beauty and promote agricultural sustainability. The organizations’ mission is “

To conserve our land, water, and way of life in the San Luis Valley.” Thanks to these efforts, over 21,000 acres of farm and ranchland from Mineral County to Conejos County have been protected. This year will also feature the ninth edition of RiGHT’s annual fundraiser, the Headwaters Hoedown.

The celebration will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Cross Arrow Ranch. Festivities at the Hoedown will feature music from The Rifters along with local food from Pepita’s Catering. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at riograndelandtrust.org or the event.
