Harold Joe Cordova

Lifetime Manassa resident Harold Joe Cordova, 83, died May 1, 2022 at the Conejos County Hospital in La Jara.

Harold was born in Manassa, Colorado on November 11, 1938 the proud son of Frank Cordova and Effie Salazar Cordova. He married Maria Perfecta Chavez on November 11, 1978 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos.

Harold worked as a Mechanic and early in his career worked for Donald’s Service in Manassa. In 1983, he then started C&B Auto Repair in Manassa and was part of this up until his death. Harold was also a true dedicated member of the Central Conejos Fire Protection District, Manassa Fire Department, for 66 years. He was the longest serving member and was the President of the Fire Board. Harold also operated his farm and ranch and loved his animals like they were family.

Harold had a good sense of humor and had a name for everybody. He was always smiling. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobile riding in the mountains. Above all, Harold loved his family.

He is survived by his wife Maria Cordova of Manassa; his children Bobby Cordova of Manassa, Yvonne (Alan) Cordova of Albuquerque, NM, Beverly (Lyle) Cordova of Alamosa, J.R. (Tami) Cordova of Albuquerque, N.M., Patricia (Alan) Turner, Pueblo West, CO, Brian Cordova of Los Lunas, NM, Anthony (Cassidy) Cordova of Belen, NM; his siblings Fred (Josie) Cordova of Romeo, CO, Dora Duran of Pueblo, CO and Mary Pratt of Pueblo, CO, Evelyn (Melvin) Lucero of Colorado Springs, CO, Lorraine Mares of Antonito, CO and Leonard Cordova of Manassa, CO; his grandchildren Tiffany Harrell, Coy Cordova, Jeff Maestas, Justin Maestas, Jordan Maestas, Ashley Perea, Brittney Abeyta, Dylan Cordova, Brandon Cordova and Austin Cordova, Kendra Cordova, Mikayla Turner, Josh Cordova, Shauncey Cordova, Shaylee Cordova, Kynlee Cordova, Kacelynn Cordova; 12 great-grandchildren and 5 step-granddaughters.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frank Cordova, his sister Elda Atencio, and numerous family members.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos.
