Gertrude Schneider

Longtime Alamosa resident Gertrude Schneider, passed away on May 3, 2023, just 3 weeks before her 99th birthday. She was born on May 20, 1924, in Belgrade, Minn. She married Marvin Schneider on June 18, 1946.

Gertrude was a longtime member of the Alamosa Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed being a rural mail carrier and did so for many years. She enjoyed spending her winters in Texas, camping, fishing, jeep trips, reading, crocheting, and watching the Rockies play baseball.

She is survived by her children Peggy Ferron, Shirley (John) Skinner, Lois (Dennis) House, Gary (Gaye) Schneider, Connie (Clay) Lupton and Larry (Cheryl) Schneider. Her grandchildren, Teresa, Don, Janay, Dell, Chad, Devra, Christine, Melissa, Curtis, Jamie and Cheri. She is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren, and eight of her siblings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin, a granddaughter, Erin, and a grandson, Samuel and six brothers.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday May 11, 2023, at the Alamosa Christian Reformed Church in Alamosa. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, also at the Alamosa Christian Reformed Church, 1861 County Road 10 South, Alamosa, Colo.
