Geraldine Grace “Granny” Montoya Martinez

Our beloved Granny was called home on Sept 29th 2021 at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, CO.

Geraldine was born on November 12th 1962 she was the daughter to the late Orlando & Benita Montoya. She was a fighter since the day she was born being born prematurely at only a couple pounds.

Geraldine loved spending time with the love of her life “Gramps”, her son, daughter in law, granddaughters, and her new princess great-granddaughter. She enjoyed cooking for all of them and having them over for dinner. She had a love for crocheting, canning, crafting, craft fairs, bingo, and gambling.

She attended Adams State College from 1990-1993, but as her health started to fail she was forced to drop out of the teacher education program 2 semesters short of graduation. She was home-bound for 18 years due to polycystic kidney disease. Out of sheer boredom, she began taking classes at TSJC it was not easy for her but she was determined. During her time at TSJC, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Student leadership, and Phi Beta Lambda. In 2008 she walked at TSJC graduation and received her associate’s degree in office technology and a certificate in Accounting.

She is survived by her loving husband Christopher Martinez of Manassa. Her son, whom she thought the world of, Esteven Montoya, daughter in law Cleo Montoya, Two granddaughters whom she loved dearly. RyAnna Montoya (Ben Majalca), Rayhelle Montoya. Geraldine was blessed with her first great-granddaughter this year, Ne’Vaeh Garcia She is also survived by her one sister Vincy (Ron) Hickman, three brothers Juan (Deena) Montoya, Rod (Angie) Montoya,

Narcisco (Viviana) Montoya as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents Orlando and Benita Montoya, her daughter Juana, Sister Gavi, Brother Alfredo, and mother-in-law Lucy Martinez.

Cremation was selected and Vigil service with a recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday October 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos.  To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
