George R. Novak, 95

At Home Lake Veteran’s Center in Monte Vista, George R. Novak, age ninety-five, went to meet the Lord unexpectedly, on January 21, 2019.

He was born in Nanticoke Pennsylvania on July 28, 1923, and was a long-time resident of Las Colonias which is between the towns of San Luis and San Francisco. Of special note, he had a love of country serving two tours in the United States Army, including World War II.

Independent with a sharp mind, he had many interests and loves: love for his daughter Cara and his grandchildren; a lifelong love for fishing, an avid Broncos fan, yet enjoyed watching all sports; a love of gardening and canning, sharing the produce with neighbors; and a love of animals, especially his dogs.

Esther (Valdez) Novak, his wife, preceded him in death as did his father and mother and his brother and sister.

George is survived by his daughter Cara Lange; grandchildren Tabitha and Ben; great grandchildren Isabella and Travis; and nephew and nieces Vicente, Jo Ann, and Antoinette.

A burial service was held at Home Lake Veteran’s Center on January 25, 2019, with full military honors. A reception followed.

Arrangements were under the direction of Strohmayer’s Funeral Home in Monte Vista.
