La Jara resident George Herman Garcia, 59, passed away December 10, 2018 at the Conejos County Hospital surrounded by his loving family. George was born on March 3, 1959 in Espanola, New Mexico, the son of Manuel Garcia and Caroline Valdez Garcia. George was a compassionate and loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, crocheting and spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his gentle nature and his smile. He was a friend to everyone and he will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his brothers Leroy Garcia (Beverly Busby) of Alamosa, CO; Nick (Laurie) Garcia of Abeline, KS; sister Martha (Bob) Naranjo of Rio Rancho, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Caroline Garcia, sister Patricia Garcia and one brother Frank Garcia.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.
