ALAMOSA — On Saturday, May 18, the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley held its annual fundraiser, “Generosity on Tap.” The proceeds from the event will help the Food Bank Network support the family of 15 food pantries scattered throughout all six counties of the San Luis Valley.

Guests arrived at the Colorado Farm Brewery, and enjoyed cuisine prepared by Gosar Natural Foods and live music from Don Richmond and the Rifters.

Funding for the Food Bank Network was raised by the generous bids garnered from 49 live and silent auction packages. All items in the auction were donated from local businesses and artists. Auctioneer, Darius Allen, humored and inspired the crowd.

Last year, the 15 pantries of the Food Bank Network provided food assistance to nearly 10,000 individuals and family members (unduplicated), with a total of over 440,000 meals. The Food Bank Network relies on supermarkets, local donors, gardeners, food drives, grants, Care and Share, and fundraisers to supply the shelves at their pantries.

Given the recent cuts in SNAP benefits (food stamps), the number of individuals and families increased by 16% over the past 12 months.  The proceeds from Generosity on Tap will go a long way to help the Food Bank Network meet that need.

The network is grateful for all who supported this event as well as their front-line volunteers, their local partners, and the many donors who make their work possible.
