Furry Friends: Dogs available as of June 24, 2017

Shown are dogs available for adoption at the Valley Humane League. Any interested adopters can call 719-589-2285 or visit the shelter next to Alpine Veterinary just west of Alamosa between 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Toby may look like a grump, but he just isn’t very photogenic! This mellow guy is a sweetheart. Toby is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu with a lot of love to give, except to cats. Toby doesn’t like cats.

Ash is a sweet year-old border collie/pit mix (best guess) who still acts like a big puppy, so she still has some manners to learn. However, she knows “sit” and is eager to learn more tricks. Ash is on the small side for a pit mix, and might even be small enough to be a lap dog (or at least she might try!)

Koko would love to meet a family that enjoys his spunk! If he had his way, Koko would have a human hand scratching behind his ear 24/7. Koko is an amazing and sweet 3-year-old Australian Shepherd.

Lucy is an energetic ball of love who would make an amazing exercise partner once she learns some leash manners. Lucy is a super sweet 2-year-old shepherd mix that needs a patience. However, Lucy is a love-bug who wants to be a lap dog and will make an amazing pet for any once trained.

Polly is full of fun and loves to play. Polly is just a puppy at 4 months old, so she’s the perfect age to train her to be the best dog she can be.

Look into those eyes...how can you not fall in love with Roman? This handsome little fella is terrified in the shelter. Roman is looking for a quiet home where he can feel safe and his handsome personality can shine! He would be best in a home with respectful older children that won’t give him any surprises. This sweet guy is a 3-year-old terrier mix.

Scruffy is a self-proclaimed scruff ball who loves attention all the time. Scruffy is a sweet little thing that pretends to be tough (that’s why we’re thinking he might have some mini-schnauzer in him) but he’s all bark!
