COSTILLA — Francisco (Frank) Ortiz, born May 13, 1934, departed this life on September 20, 2020, surrounded by his family.  He is preceded in death by his parents Rodolfo & Viola Ortiz, Brothers; Juan, Felipe, Dale, & Kenny Ortiz, Sisters; Lorraine & Elaine Ortiz, & Ruth Manzanares.  He is survived by his wife Verna Ortiz, Children;  Margie Gonzales (Lawrence), Kathy Solano (Rick), Viola Dominguez (Randy), Francisco (Kiko) Ortiz Jr (Nicole), Cathy Vigil, 16 Grand Children, 16 Great Grand Children, Siblings;  Ben Ortiz (Celia) & Michael Ortiz, Joann Lucero, Hazel Martinez (Harland), Tita Padilla (Charlie), & Theresa Cordova.  Frank was the eldest of 14 children and was a resident of Costilla, NM for over 84 years until he relocated to Brighton, CO to be near his children.  He was Costilla Fire Chief for over 25 years, was a Master Carpenter and was very active in his community. He was a well-respected man by both his family and friends.  He loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors in general, it brought him joy to be able to share this with his family.  He will be truly missed. 

A Vigil Service will be held at La Morada in Garcia, Colorado Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 7:00 PM. Another Vigil Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla.  A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla.
