Forest Service taking surveys

TAOS, NM — Forest Service and contract employees are now working in developed and dispersed recreation sites on the Carson National Forest to conduct National Visitor Use Monitoring (NVUM) surveys.  Surveys will take place on random days from October 2017 through September 2018 on the Camino Real, Canjilon, El Rito, Questa and Tres Piedras Ranger Districts.

The NVUM surveys occur every five years and help the forest understand recreation trends and use patterns. The data will allow us to assess the number of people that visit and recreate on the Carson National Forest, and the types of recreational activities that they engage in.  Survey results will also provide input on the economic impact that visitors have on the local economy, how satisfied people are with their visit, and suggestions for improvements. The survey is completely voluntary and all information is confidential. The basic interview lasts approximately six minutes.

The Forest Service would appreciate it if visitors, including those from out-of-town and the local area, would take a few minutes to answer some questions. Interviews collected will represent a diverse group of people and will ensure a well-represented population of forest visitors.
