First day at 3A state golf in the books

Golfers from both Alamosa and Monte Vista are at Eisenhower Golf Course on the Air Force Academy north of Colorado Springs for 3A State Golf play. State Championship golf involves a two-day session of playing 36 holes. High school athletes completed the first 18 holes on Monday.

In attendance from Alamosa are Brenden Crowther and Colton Liddell. The Mean Moose golfers posted similar numbers on Monday.

Crowther finished tied for 35th place shooting an 84. The Alamosa senior started his day on hole 10, he would struggle initially adding four strokes on hole 11 before correcting and hitting par on the next two holes and birdieing on hole 16, completing the back 9 six over par. Crowther would find par on 4 of the front 9 holes to go 12 over par on the course.

Liddell tied for 38th place shooting an 85 on the course. Liddell also started his day on the back 9, but would actually excel on hole 11 with a birdie. He then followed that with 3 pars on the next 7 holes for a +5 at the midway point. Moving to the front 9, Liddell added three more pars and finished 13 over on the course.

Luke Hoffstaetter and Casin Holder represented Monte Vista. Hoffstaetter placed 46th in Monday competition shooting an 87. The Monte Vista senior began his day on the front 9 hitting on-par for 3-of-9 to register a +8. On the back 9 he would add another 7 strokes finishing at 15 over.

Holder currently occupies the 82nd spot shooting a 105. Holder would find two pars on the course going 33 over. Monte Vista and Alamosa will be back in action Tuesday morning to complete the State Meet.
