Fay A. (Burd) McBride, 103

Long time Monte Vista resident Fay McBride passed away on May 20, 2018. Fay was born in Tolar Texas, the daughter of William and Gertrude Stacy. Fay’s family moved to VilleGreen, Colorado when she was a young girl. Her father died when she was 5 from the influenza outbreak of 1919. The family then moved to Trinidad until 1922 when the family moved to the San Luis Valley. Fay went to work for Gene Davis at Dream Ranch in 1928 where she met Don Burd and they were married in 1930. She would spend summers in Raton Creek and spend winters in the Bowen Community. To this marriage, four children were born: Opal, Dixie, Gary, and Charlie. Don died in 1952 of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Fay continued to run the family ranch. In 1956, She married Ted McBride and moved to the Lost Cabin Ranch in Rock Creek until 1974 when they moved to New Mexico. After Ted’s death in 1988, Fay moved back to Monte Vista. Fay loved to garden, always having beautiful flowers, and she loved to dance and most of all loved being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Don Burd and Ted McBride, Daughter Opal McFarland and son Gary Burd. Also preceding her were her siblings Guy Stacy, LaVerna Smith, John Stacy, and Rae Bulson.

Fay is survived by Daughter Dixie Noffsinger (Glen- Deceased), son Charlie Burd (Pat), son in-law Mark McFarland, and special friend Louie Casados. Surviving grandchildren Calvin Rodman (Shelly), Wanda Clarence (Tracy), Ronnie Kirby (DeeDee), Dawn Kirby, Marla Rumley (Todd), and Shawn Burd (Lynn). 12 total great grandkids, including three great great great grandkids.
