Explore the outdoors with Cloverbuds on September 29

ALAMOSA – Valley youth ages 5 to 7 are invited to participate in Cloverbuds, a fun activity-focused youth development program, run by San Luis Valley 4-H. The September meeting will take place on Saturday, September 29 from 2-4 p.m. at Cole Park in Alamosa. The meeting will feature the outdoor adventure project.

Participants will learn about hiking and exploring the outdoors through hands-on activities. Kids will review the ten essentials to take hiking, build their own mock campfire, and work on map reading. They’ll also go on a nature scavenger hunt hike.

Kids do not need to be 4-H members to attend this event. The cost is $10 per child, and includes snacks and materials. Youth must RSVP to the Extension office by Wednesday, September 26 if they’d like to participate, as space and materials are limited. Call 719-852-7381 or e-mail [email protected] to register. The event may be cancelled for inclement weather.

The group will meet at the north shelter, next to the baseball diamond at Cole Park in Alamosa. Participants should park at the lot at the entrance on First Street. Participants are encouraged to dress for weather conditions and to bring a hat and sunscreen.

The Cloverbuds group is planning to meet monthly to explore different 4-H projects with activities and adventures. If you’d like to be added to the Cloverbuds mailing list to get information about these offerings, email [email protected].
