La Jara resident Estella Marita Martinez, 85, was called home on October 21, 2021 after her battle with Covid-19. Estella was born on July 13, 1936 in Capulin, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Lucien Martinez and Sara P. Gomez Martinez. Estella devoted her life to caring for her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and the most compassionate person you could ever meet. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with all of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lucien and Sara Martinez, granddaughter Patricia Abeyta, great-grandson Edgar Martinez Jr.

Estella will live on through her children Shirley Ann Martinez, Louise Martinez both of Denver, CO; Theresa Martinez of La Jara, CO; Rick Martinez of La Jara, CO; David (Anna) Martinez, Ernie (Laverne) Martinez both of Leadville, CO; Gerald Martinez of Alamosa, CO; 14 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Martinez of Capulin, CO; brother Jim (Diane) Martinez of Pueblo West, CO. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
