Emergency alert system test

Alamosa Regional Communications Center will be conducting a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert system within the boundaries of the San Luis Valley on Thursday, June 6 at 11 a.m.

The Wireless Emergency Alert notification is a federal system that allows local agencies to send alerts to smart phones in the area. This is the same notification in which Amber Alerts are sent. During the test, anyone with a smart phone within the San Luis Valley, including travelers, should expect to receive the following alert: “This is a test of the SLV Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action required.” In the event of a real emergency the test will be postponed.

Recipients of the test alert will be asked to assist us in understanding how well the test worked by going to the San Luis Valley 911 website at www.slve911.org and taking a short, two question, anonymous survey or by commenting on the social media posts about the test via the San Luis Valley 911 Facebook and Twitter pages. Comments can also be submitted by emailing [email protected].
