Elks aid veterans at clinic
ALAMOSA — Using an Elks National Foundation Freedom Grant, members of Alamosa B.P.O.E. Elks were able to help out some 80 veterans Tuesday, June 25, by providing items such as pillows, blankets, sheets, hygiene products, underwear, socks, T-shirts, snacks, games, fresh fruit and beverages.
Tables were set up in front of the VA Clinic in Alamosa and, as veterans were approaching, they were given personal, yet simple, items to make their lives a little better.
There were 16 Elks members who helped out during this event.
Deanna Wagner, Esteemed Loyal Elk, chaired the event with assistance in organizing by Frank “Boogie” Romero and said she “would like to think each and every one of you for devoting your time to this project. It was really a great day to see the smiles on their faces and the joy of getting the simplest things in life.”
