Elishia Melgares-Chacon

In the early morning hours of October 16th, our beloved Elishia Emilia Melgares received her angel wings to fly home to our Father above. Although her time here was short, Elishia’s life was filled with tremendous love and lasting memories that many will carry forever. Elishia’s biggest blessing was her son Xavier whom she loved dearly! Their love for each other was immeasurable!

Born on November 26, 1984, the second child and only daughter of Encarnacion and Judy Chacon, Elishia graduated from Centauri High School in 2003. Elishia went on to earn her associate’s degree in applied science, as well as her medical assistant certification from Pueblo Community College. Elishia used her training as a certified medical assistant working for many hospitals and clinics around the valley.  Elishia devoted her work and compassion to those in need. Elishia enjoyed being outdoors and particularly loved spending time with her son and family fishing and camping.

Elishia is survived by her only son Xavier, her parents Encarnacion and Judy Chacon, her beloved companion Jeremy DeHerrera, her older brother, Anthony Chacon (Alaina Beiriger), her younger brother and sister-in-law, Encarnacion Jr. and Veronica Chacon, paternal grandparents Elipio and Cirila Chacon, and maternal grandmother Cordelia Trujillo. Her memory will be carried on by her five nephews: DeShawn, Encarnacion IIII, Raydan, Nathaniel, and Eli and one niece Novaleen, as well as her many primos and friends. She is preceded in death by her primo River Chacon, Tio Ronnie Gonzales, and maternal grandfather Daniel Gurule.

Rosary services will be held Friday, October 22nd at 7 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 23rd at 1 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa CO.
