Dustin Merejildo Atencio 

May 30, 1988 – April 27, 2017

Dustin was born in Alamosa Colorado.

Dustin is preceded in death by his father, Merejildo Atencio; paternal grandparents, Ubaldo Esquibel and Beronice Atencio; maternal grandparents, Ernest Kocerha Sr. and Judith Kocerha.

He survived by his mother, Theresa Kocerha-Jimison; step-father, Daryn Jimison; sisters, Annette (Robert) Marquez, Bonnie Atencio, (Paulino Maldonado), Melissa (Martin) Lopez and Hope Atencio; brothers, Gilbert (Duanese) Atencio and Andrew Atencio; stepsister, Laura Jimison; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dustin attended Monte Vista Schools, graduating in May 2006. After graduating, Dustin began his career in dispatching at the Monte Visa Colorado Police Department.  Shortly thereafter he moved to Pueblo and began his dedicated service to the Pueblo Police Department as a dispatcher. He was known best for his witty personality and his constant selfless giving. He volunteered in the community with many job fairs and became an ACOVA victims advocate for the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Department. These opportunities opened up his social life to his passion of karaoke and darts. His lifetime hobbies of cooking, fishing, camping, boating, traveling and socializing with friends and family kept him busy during his spare time.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Family Worship Center, 3800 Parker Blvd., with viewing prior to service.
